Bikepacking Q&A

with

Juliet Elliott & Shona Oldfield

The purpose of the Tor Divide is to offer an opportunity to explore the Peak District on two wheels, experience unsupported bikepacking, and learn to rely on yourself for planning and problem-solving. While the challenges posed by the terrain and distance shouldn’t be underestimated, the route(s) offered intend to be friendly enough to be tackled by first-time bikepackers, and for the event to be a great intro to bikepacking.

As many people that have signed up or are considering signing up are looking at their set-up, what to take with them and how to prepare, we have organised a live Q&A session to give you the opportunity to ask those questions!

Whether you are considering signing-up to the Tor Divide or to some 1000km ultra-race on remote mountains, our two amazing speakers will have you covered.

Join us for the Live session on Instagram at 6pm on Thursday 1st February.

Juliet

Named one of Bike Biz’s ‘Most Influential Women In Cycling’ and a ‘Woman To Watch’ by YouTube, Juliet Elliott is a former model and pro snowboarder turned cyclist, blogger and creative. Juliet is a multi-discipline bike racer (from crit to cx, from road to MTB) and has a penchant for bikepacking and big adventures.

Derbyshire-born, she knows the Peak District and its trails and roads. In 2023 she battled with insane heat in Rwanda, freezing cold temperatures across the Andes, and the winds and terrain of the Adriatic coast. She has some amazing plans for 2024 from all-inclusive cycling holidays, to bikepacking rallies and races. She regularly shares insights on these amazing events through her channels and her reports are always as interesting as fun to watch.

“Cycling makes me feel good in so many ways. I love to explore, to push my limits, to ride fast, to progress and to better myself. It's just so satisfying! It can also be relaxing; it calms my mind, gives me clarity and focus and just generally gives me a great sense of wellbeing.

Shona

Shona is the owner of specialist touring and adventure bike shop 'Keep Pedalling' in Manchester. Always happy to share her experience and knowledge with customers and encourage their ambitions. Shona participates in ultra-endurance events and with her partner Rich has completed some of the hardest races in the world.

Keep Pedalling is the go-to-shop for any adventure cyclists in the North of England. They’ve successfully helped so many people on a journey from finding the confidence to take their first steps into cycling, to cycling the length of the Americas, to Australia or even just the coast to coast or regularly cycling across Manchester.

“We decided we wanted to open a bike shop that focussed on the type of riding we enjoyed and were doing, at the time this was touring both road and off road, and bikepacking. In the North West this was under represented plus we also wanted to be the type of shop where everyone was treated the same, female, male, non-binary we were never going to pre-judge people or what they were thinking of doing.
