Sustainability.

We care deeply about the environment and the world we live in. Cycling is a fantastic way to explore new places and move around, but like everything it requires us to act responsibly and be aware of the consequences of our actions.

How we travel to events and great riding destinations has an impact on our planet. Running an off-road event inevitably deteriorates trails and the work of those who maintain them.

To promote sustainable and active travel:

  • Every Finisher travelling more than 16km/10miles to the start via train/bus/bike will receive a £5 refund.*

  • The first Finisher completing the route “plastic-free” will get the full event fee refunded.**

  • For every ticket sold we will donate £5 to Ride Sheffield Trail Fund.
To learn more about Ride Sheffield and the work they do visit ridesheffield.org.uk

* provide at registration a gpx of your journey if travelling by bike and/or a valid train/bus return ticket for any relevant leg of your journey. Eligible participants will receive a £5 cash refund or equivalent drink voucher to be used at the finish line. TBC.

**To qualify for a plastic-free finish please follow the current rules for the #plasticfreeultra pledge and hand in any single use plastic at the finish line.
Please let us know in advance if you plan to go for a plastic-free ride.

The rules only apply to food and drink and are as follows:

  • No single-use plastic food or drink products.

  • No ‘Recyclable’ single-use plastic either.

  • Aluminum cans are allowed as long as they are properly recycled.

  • Paper and other organic materials are allowed and can be disposed of at any time (no littering).

  • Restaurant, cafe, hotel, and pub, etc., food stops are allowed. Any personally generated plastic waste (i.e.: ketchup packets, to-go containers, chip bags, plastic straws, plastic cutlery, etc. aren’t allowed)

  • Any and all intentional, accidental or otherwise unavoidable ‘not allowed’ food or drink related plastic waste must be carried to the finish and listed in a report form after completion with reason for acquisition. Every plastic waste item will add 15min to the finisher time (for the purpose of the plastic-free finish).

  • Don't bring any single-use plastic to the start line (if you are re-using a plastic bread bag to carry your trail mix or other snacks that is ok).
