This is an unsupported event.
Everyone is welcome.
No prizes and a few simple rules.
DBAD.
The event rules follow the self-supported bikepacking ethos, just like many similar events. The rules are simple but rely on riders being honest and doing the right thing (don’t be a d!ck).
You might find yourself in a situation where you want to depart from those rules (e.g. taking a cheeky shortcut to avoid climbing yet another hill, stopping at a mate’s house for a drink, getting your other half/friend/parent to drop off some spares or supplies), which is ok, but then please get in touch with the organisers and ‘disqualify yourself’.
To be listed as Finisher you must:
Attend registration on the day and sign-in.
Complete one of the two routes provided in less than 32hours.
Ride the full length of the course under your own power (see FAQs regarding e-bikes). No shortcuts, no deviations.
Use the event satellite tracker provided for the full duration of your ride.
Finish the ride in the same category as you started (e.g. start as a pair, finish as a pair).
Follow the rules below.
Main rules of the event are listed below, please also read the event Terms and Conditions (in summary: don’t be a dick, behave responsibly and use common sense).
You should not pre-arrange anything, but are free to take commercially available benefits that are equally open to all riders (e.g. you can use shops, hotels, cafes and the like that are open to the public. You cannot arrange a friend to do something especially for you).
If entering as a pair, the time of the last rider back at the start will count towards completion. Both riders should carry the mandatory gear, and both riders should finish the ride to be listed as Finishers.
If you leave the route for any reason, you should return to where you left it before you carry on to the finish line.
N.B. riders’ GPX tracks will be checked post ride. If you are forced to take a diversion (e.g. a track locked shut, road works etc.) then take a photo of the location and send it to the organisers before carrying on and re-joining the route at the earliest opportunity. This will also allow us to promptly alert other riders about the diversion. You must not do anything that brings bikepacking and cycling into disrepute. If you wish to wild camp in the Peak District National Park you must first obtain permission from the landowner before camping. The risk of moorland fires is very high in the Peak District and it is absolutely vital that you do not have an open fire at any time.
Respect other users and the environment around you. Close all gates behind you.. Do not litter. Any rider reported littering will be excluded from the event.
Should you decide to ‘scratch’ (i.e. leave the event) you are required to immediately inform the organisers. Rescue services WILL be called in if we do not hear from you!
You must carry with you the following mandatory items:
Helmet (worn at all times while riding)
GPS unit & battery pack or secondary unit/map
Emergency bivy bag (if not carrying a bivvy)
Waterproof jacket
Bell
Capacity to carry at least 1.5l of water
Front(white) & rear(red) light
Multitool and basic repair kit
No gear nor food caches.
Some participants will attempt to complete the course as quickly as possible which is fine, as long as the rules above are respected and none is endangered. Regardless of how you decide to ride the route, you’re encouraged to help other riders should they need assistance. Riding next to others is also allowed however, please be respectful should they prefer to ride on their own. We want riders to experience an unsupported event, but are keen to have new riders to join the event and have as many of them as possible completing the route.
Decisions made by the organisers are final.
The organisers might revise the route at short notice and will inform participants as soon as possible.
